Prof. Unnat P.Pandit, Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trademarks, Govt of India, visits Amity University

Pandit, Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trademarks, Govt. of India for a discussion on, “The Evolution and Necessity of Intellectual Property in Amrit Kaal: Fostering Innovation and Growth through Academic Research” at Amity University Uttar Pradesh.
The aim of his visit was to explore the opportunities to foster innovation and economic growth by protecting and incentivizing the development and commercialization of new ideas and technologies.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Unnat P Pandit, Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trademarks, Govt. of India, averred, “It is a matter of extreme pride and pleasure for me to be present here today at Amity, which is a highly reputed and esteemed institution across the globe. Amity is already doing exceptionally well in the area of Patent filing and enhancing the research ecosystem of the country. I highly appreciate the vision set by the institution and Amity has very well adopted an IP driven approach. The NEP 2020 allows the students to think , ideate and find solutions to the problems and Amity is providing this opportunity to all its students, including school students and preparing them well for higher education. In 2014, the Global Innovation Index ranking of India was 83 and today it is at number 40, which is a testimony to the huge development made by India in the area of research and innovation. We must aim to be amongst the top 10 in Global Innovation Index and for that we need to ignite the curiosity of the students.
He further added, “Research opportunities must be provided to all students, including the management students since they must know and understand the kind of policy interventions which are happening in this area. A multidisciplinary approach, connecting all students to think wisely and openly, thereby enhancing the IP Ecosystem is the need of the hour. Amity researchers have all the facilities, resources, a visionary leadership and strategic intervention to work in this area and I’m certain that Amity University will become the leading University in the area of Patent filing, in the near future.”
He advised to create a wall and display all the patents granted to Amity, on the wall so that the students can get the inspiration to work hard on developing new technologies and file more patents.

On this occasion, Dr. A.K. Singh, Sr. Vice President, AFSTIA, presented a brief overview of “Amity University and its Research Ecosystem” and “An Introduction to Amity IPR Ecosystem” was presented by Dr. Smita Sahu, Director- Amity IPR Cell. The Welcome Address was delivered by Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Deputy Director General, AFSTIA. Also present on the occasion were Dr. W. Selvamurthy, President ASTIF, Dr. Gurinder Singh, Group Vice Chancellor Amity Universities, the HOIs, scientists, and senior faculty of Amity.
