Amity University Haryana’s 11th Convocation Awards Honorary Doctorates to Dr. Arvinder Singh Soin, Srinivasa Reddy, and Anil Agrawal
11th Convocation of Amity University Haryana Celebrated its Academic, Research and Innovation Excellence and conferred Honorary Doctorates upon renowned Liver Transplant Surgeon Dr Arvinder Singh Soin, Google India MD Srinivasa Reddy and Green Energy Technopreneur Shri Anil Agrawal.
Gurugram, February 10, 2025 – In a momentous celebration of academic, research and innovation excellence and accomplishments of its faculty and inspired minds of students, Amity University Haryana (AUH) hosted its 11th Convocation Ceremony for the graduating Class of 2024 on February 8, 2025, at the prestigious Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi. The glittering ceremony marked the award of Degrees to 1,528 graduands, including 78 PhD scholars. Medals and trophies were awarded to meritorious graduates, including the coveted US Green Building Council price to each of the three brilliant graduates whose final year projects were adjudged as the best contributions towards sustainability research and development. The convocation was presided by Hon’ble Chancellor of AUH Dr Aseem Chauhan and was graced by a galaxy of experts from the fields of science, technology, management, liberal arts and legal education. Approximately 2500 graduates and parents attended the Convocation.
A Grand Procession and Inspirational Words:
The Convocation began with a grand Academic Procession, led by the Rajputana Rifle Band, one of the oldest regiments of the Indian Army, symbolizing excellence and tradition and comprising of members of academic council. Board of management, governing council of the university, trustees of RBEF and recipients of honorary degrees accompanied by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof PB Sharma and Hon’ble Chancellor Dr Aseem Chauhan.
Congratulating the graduands for their success and accomplishments, Prof. (Dr.) P.B. Sharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Amity University Haryana, said “Your successful completion of your degree program at this prestigious university is not just a personal triumph, but a testament to the solid foundation of values instilled by your Alma Mater and I have full confidence that you will rise to meet the high expectations set before you, while navigating the challenges of an increasingly competitive and technology-driven world.” Prof. Sharma in his Vice Chancellor’s report highlighted Amity University Haryana’s outstanding contributions to research and innovation, a testament to the institution’s commitment to academic excellence. Prof Sharma proudly shared that the university has undertaken 111 funded higher end R&D projects, filed 275 patents, published 3000 Scopus research publication including many of high impact factor and received over 30,000 citations taking the H Index of the university to impressive tally of 68 to achieve land mark success as per the vision of the founding fathers of AUH who envisioned a research and innovation driven university alongside with high employability quotient.
Encouraging the new graduates to carry forward the legacy of innovation, Prof. Sharma passionately urged them to continue contributing to the global academic and professional landscape, stating, “As you step into the next chapter of your lives, I urge you to uphold the values instilled in you at Amity. Keep pushing the boundaries of knowledge and strive to add further glory and honor to this prestigious institution. Your success will always be the rejoiced by us in the university, your Alma Mater.”
Dr. Aseem Chauhan, Hon’ble Chancellor, Amity University Haryana, delivered an inspiring message to the graduates, urging them to pursue their highest potential and strive for excellence in all their endeavors. Dr Chauhan shared, “The ultimate goal of every Amitian should be to contribute to the greater good of society, to use their knowledge and skills not only for personal success but to uplift and make a meaningful impact on the world around them.” His words echoed the core philosophy of Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President of the Amity Education Group, emphasizing the importance of ethical leadership and service to humanity.

Honorary Doctorates conferred upon luminaries:
Amity University Haryana honored distinguished personalities with Honorary Doctorates (Honoris Causa) for their significant contributions to corporate leadership and medical sciences. Renowned Liver Transplant Surgeon, Dr. Arvinder Singh Soin, Group Chairman, Medanta Institute of Liver Transplantation, was honored with the prestigious Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) degree, Honoris Causa for his groundbreaking contributions in the field medical sciences. A pioneer in his field, Dr. Soin has been instrumental in revolutionizing the landscape of liver transplants, not only in India but globally. Dr Soin relentless dedication and exceptional expertise have led to the successful performance of India’s first-ever liver transplant in 1998, marking a significant milestone in medical history.
Accepting the honour, Dr. Soin said that for him lever transplant surgery is his passion and that he is deeply committed to advancing healthcare in India and beyond. He encouraged the graduates to pursue their passions relentlessly, never shying away from challenges, and to always stay driven by the pursuit of excellence. Dr Soin’s remarkable achievements continue to inspire medical professionals and students alike, reminding them of the transformative power of innovation and compassion in medicine.
Shri Sreenivasa Reddy, Managing Director of Google India, was conferred with the honour of Doctor of Philosophy (D.Phil.) Honoris Causa in recognition of his exceptional leadership and transformative contributions to the technology sector. As a visionary leader, Shri Srinivasa Reddy has played a pivotal role in shaping the growth and expansion of Google’s operations in India, navigating the complexities of one of the world’s largest and most dynamic markets. His strategic foresight and innovative approach have driven the company’s success, helping to bridge the digital divide and empower millions of people across the country.
In his acceptance speech, Shri Sreenivasa Reddy shared his vision for the future of technology, urging graduates to embrace the rapidly evolving landscape with confidence and curiosity. “Amity has created leaders who have the potential to transform industries and make a lasting impact on a global scale. It is now your turn to step forward, think big, and push the boundaries of what’s possible”, he said.
Shri Anil Agrawal, Managing Director, Airox Nigen Equipments, was honored with the Doctor of Philosophy (D.Phil.) Honoris Causa for his outstanding contributions to the engineering and manufacturing sectors. A trailblazer in the field, Shri Agrawal has made significant strides in advancing the design, development and production of critical medical and industrial equipment, playing a vital role in enhancing healthcare delivery and infrastructure across India.
In his acceptance speech, Shri Anil Agrawal expressed his gratitude for the honor and emphasized the importance of perseverance and innovation in overcoming challenges. Shri Agarwal shared valuable insights with the graduates, stating, “Engineering is not just about building machines, it is about solving problems and making a tangible difference in people’s lives. Every step forward, no matter how small, has the potential to change the world. Keep innovating, stay curious and never stop learning.”
At the Convocation Honorary Professorship was conferred upon Prof. Andrew M. Lynn, a distinguished Professor at the School of Computational and Integrative Sciences at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), for his pioneering research and exceptional contributions to the fields of bioinformatics, biotechnology, and computational biology. With a career marked by groundbreaking discoveries, Prof. Lynn has been at the forefront of using computational techniques to unravel the complexities of biological systems, making profound impacts on both scientific understanding and real-world applications.
Celebrating Merit and Sustainability:
The ceremony also recognized academic excellence, awarding 219 medals and trophies, including 65 Gold, 67 Silver, and 66 Bronze medals. The Shri Baljit Shastri Award for Human & Traditional Values was presented to 24 students for their exemplary ethical conduct. Furthermore, the GBCI Corporate Award of Sustainability was bestowed upon three students committed to sustainable practices. Additionally, 43 students received the prestigious Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan Full Scholarship for their academic excellence.
Commitment to Sustainability and Innovation:
Amity University Haryana continues to lead by example in sustainable development. The campus is India’s first university to receive the LEED Platinum Certification for environmentally responsible design and construction. The university’s Innovation Incubator has achieved remarkable success, registering seven start-ups under the Start-up India initiative and securing a grant of ₹85 lakh from the Government of India. AUH also received angel investments totaling over ₹9 crores for its start-ups.
In his closing remarks, Prof. P.B. Sharma inspired the graduates to play an active role in realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
