A Pakistani court has sentenced to death a 22-year-old student on prices of blasphemy over alleged Whatsapp messages, media studies stated.
The court in Punjab Province stated he had shared blasphemous footage and movies with the intention to outrage the non secular emotions of Muslims, reported BBC.
As part of the identical case, one other 17-year-old was sentenced to life in jail.
The grievance was filed in 2022 by the cybercrime unit of Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Lahore, the capital of Punjab, the British media reported.
The case was later referred to a neighborhood court in Gujranwala metropolis.
In their ruling, the judges this week stated the 22-year-old was sentenced to death for making ready movies and photographs which included derogatory remarks towards Prophet Muhammad and his wives.
The 17-year-old was given a life sentence for sharing the alleged submit.
The plaintiff had alleged he had obtained the movies and photographs from three completely different cell phone numbers, reported BBC.
The FIA stated that it had examined the plaintiff’s telephone and established that “obscene materials” had been despatched to him.
Defence attorneys argued that the 2 college students had been “trapped in a false case”, reported Dawn News.
The father of the death-row convict, whose id has not been disclosed, informed the BBC that he was submitting an attraction within the Lahore High Court.
