Whether you are from the salary class or do your own business, you have to file your income tax return by the due date.

The last date for filing income tax return (ITR) is 31st July. Since today is 10th July, obviously most of you must have received your Form-16 as well. Experts say that no taxpayer should wait to file the return on the last date, by doing this you have time to reduce errors.

To file ITR, you can either take the help of a chartered accountant or file the return online yourself. If you want to do it yourself, then this has also become very easy now. First of all, you should have these documents in your hand

Whenever you think of filing income tax return online, keep some important documents ready in your hand before that. You should have Form 16, Form 16A, Form 26AS, capital gains statement, proof of tax-saving investments etc. ready as the necessary documents for filing income tax return.

Step by Step ITR Filing Process

  • Visit the Income Tax e-filing portal .
  • Log in using your PAN, password and captcha code.
  • Go to the ‘e-File’ menu and select ‘Income Tax Returns’.
  • Choose the appropriate ITR form based on your income (ITR-1 or ITR-2 if you have Form 16).
  • Select Assessment Year 2024-25.
  • Verify all the data entered in the form and submit it.
  • After submission, e-verify your return using Aadhaar OTP or other available options.
  • Upload and verify your return.

Who should file ITR

If the total income before deductions under various sections of Chapter VI-A (such as 80C, 80CCC, 80CCD, 80D, 80E, 80G, 80GGA, 80TTA/80TTB, etc.) exceeds the basic exemption limit, you must file your Income Tax Return (ITR). Also, as a resident of India, for income tax purposes, if you own or have an interest in any property outside India as a beneficial owner, you must file an Income Tax Return (ITR).

BENGALURU: Shri Priyank Kharge, Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology & Biotechnology and RDPR, Government of Karnataka, announced the 27th edition of Asia’s largest Technology Show, Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS) 2024, at a Press Conference held in Bengaluru today. Scheduled from November 19-21 2024 at the iconic Bangalore Palace, BTS 2024 will once again position Bengaluru at the forefront of global tech innovation & collaboration.

Ahead of this press conference, a Breakfast meeting was held where Shri Siddaramaiah, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, engaged in an interactive session with over 200 CEOs from India’s leading IT, Semiconductor & Electronics, AVGC, Biotech and Startup organizations. This 2-hour interactive meeting also saw the presence of Shri D.K. Monsoon Boosts Kharif Crop Sowing by 14.1% in 2024

The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has reported a significant 14.1% increase in the area under kharif crop sowing in 2024. The data, released on Monday, July 8, 2024, reveals that the area has expanded to 378.72 lakh hectares, up from 331.9 lakh hectares during the same period last year. This substantial increase is attributed to the favorable monsoon conditions experienced this year.

The report also highlights a remarkable 50% surge in the area under pulses cultivation. The area has expanded from 23.78 lakh hectares last year to 36.81 lakh hectares this year. This development is particularly significant given the recent shortage of pulses in the country, which has been a major contributor to food inflation. The increase in pulses cultivation is expected to alleviate this shortage and stabilize food prices.

In addition to pulses, the area under paddy cultivation has also seen a substantial increase. The data shows that the area has jumped to 59.99 lakh hectares from 50.26 lakh hectares last year. This increase in paddy cultivation is expected to boost rice production, thereby ensuring food security for the country’s vast population.

The area under oilseeds cultivation has also seen a significant increase, jumping to 8.31 lakh hectares from 51.97 lakh hectares last year. This increase is expected to have a positive impact on the country’s economy. The higher area under oilseeds cultivation could lead to a decline in the country’s edible oil import bill, thereby saving precious foreign exchange. This development is particularly significant given the recent rise in global oil prices.

The data also reveals an increase in the area under sugarcane cultivation. The area has increased to 56.88 lakh hectares this year, up from 55.45 lakh hectares last year. This increase is expected to boost sugar production, thereby ensuring the availability of this essential commodity for the country’s vast population.
