Scaler School of Technology’s UG Program in Computer Science & AI, Reports a 130% Surge in Applications

New Delhi, 25th October, 2024: Scaler School of Technology, a fully residential UG Program in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence by Scaler, continues to experience remarkable growth, with admissions surging by almost 130% in 2024. SST recorded an enrollment of over 12,000 students for the Scaler National Scholarship and Entrance Test (NSET), up from 5000 registrations the previous year, highlighting the growing interest in the program. The program also maintained its highly selective acceptance rate of 3.7%, ensuring a competitive and diverse cohort of 440 students (230% increase as compared to the first batch that comprised of 190 students).

Over 137 admitted students turned down offers from India’s premier institutions, including IITs and NITs, and 12 declined offers from global universities like the University of Toronto, the University of Texas, and Michigan State University, among others.

The SST student roster includes students with JEE scores as high as 99.4 percentile, top rankings in the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) Regionals, CodeChef competitions and Hackathons. SST students created a record by being the highest-ranked 1st-year team across India at the Olympics of Coding by International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) by outperforming teams from IITs and NITs.

To shape its students into future tech entrepreneurs, SST offers a dedicated space known as the Innovation Lab, explicitly designed to foster the development of deep-tech startups and impactful projects. Students have the chance to work on ground-breaking initiatives, collaborating with industry and top C-Suite leaders from leading tech companies, along with Scaler’s in-house engineering mentors who provide guidance every step of the way. SST students are engaged in several other innovative projects using AI and smart devices that are being developed independently and in collaboration with leading tech companies.

One noteworthy initiative is the collaboration with Bhashini, the Government of India’s AI-powered multi-lingual translation platform. First-year students at SST are working on creating a tool to help remove language barriers across India, showcasing SST’s focus on solving large-scale, meaningful problems. Under this project, SST students are leveraging Bhashini’s pre-trained models and APIs to build a suite of translation tools, including a Chrome Extension and a Webpage Translation API, to translate web pages into various Indian languages seamlessly. This effort is helping Bhashini realise its mission of enabling all Indians access to the internet and digital services in their native languages.

This exposure has also enabled over 65 students from the inaugural batch of 2023 to secure high-paying internships with companies like Freecharge, Pazcare and Clearfeed. Additionally, 21 students work directly with Dukaan’s CTO, Subhash Choudhary, gaining hands-on experience building scalable products.

Ryan International Students Bond with Elderly Residents at Pune’s Ananddham Old Age Home

Pune, October 25, 2024: In a heartwarming display of intergenerational bonding, twenty students from Ryan International Academy, Bavdhan, visited Ananddham Old Age Home in Kothrud, Pune, bringing joy and essential supplies to the elderly residents. The school initiated its first community outreach program with the facility, creating meaningful bonds between the young students and senior citizens.

Students from grades III to X participated in this compassionate activity by spending quality time with the aged residents of the home, whose age range is between 86 to 92 years. The school community collected essentials for a hygiene collection drive to support the needy facility for ten elderly female residents.

During the hour-long visit, students engaged in heartfelt interactions with eight of the home’s residents, who shared their life experiences and wisdom. A highlight of the visit was the cultural exchange through music, as students and residents joined together in singing Marathi songs, including “Abhari Abhari,” expressing gratitude for life’s blessings.

The visit included a special feature with Mrs. Sindhu Vasant Padalkar, a 91-year-old resident and published author, gifted two of her Marathi books to the school library: “Antriche Bol,” a collection of poems, and “Eka Aaichi Gosht,” a novel. These books will serve as lasting reminders of this meaningful exchange.

Mrs. Ruchi Masi, Principal of Ryan International Academy, Bavdhan emphasized the importance of such initiatives, stating, “It is essential for the younger generation to understand and value family ties. These visits help instil important values, fostering empathy and respect for elders. Ashoka University Announces Scholarships for All Young India Fellows in Class of 2025-26: Applications Now Open!

New Delhi, October 23, 2024: Ashoka University, India’s premier interdisciplinary higher education and research institution, today announced that all Fellows selected for the upcoming cohort of the Young India Fellowship (Class of 2025-26) will receive partial or full scholarships. The admissions process opened on October 15, 2024, offering scholarships ranging from 25% to a full 100% waiver covering tuition, residence, and meals along with stipends for additional financial assistance. The prestigious Chancellor’s Merit Scholarship will also continue to be awarded in the Class of 2026.

Currently, 81% of the Young India Fellows are either partially or fully funded with 60% of the cohort benefiting from a full tuition waiver or more. Notably about one-third of the Class of 2025 Fellows identify as first-generation college goers, and 61% as female. With this new initiative, Ashoka University is furthering its commitment to making the Fellowship more accessible to exceptional and deserving individuals coming from all walks of life. The increase in scholarships for the current and next cohort has been made possible primarily through the generous support of HDFC Bank.

Eligibility Criteria and Selection Process: YIF Class of 2026

The Class of 2026 will comprise around 100 Fellows. Candidates of all age groups and nationalities, across diverse academic, professional, geographical and socioeconomic backgrounds, who have a recognised undergraduate degree in any discipline by July 2025 or earlier (can be a final-year student at the time of application) are eligible to apply for the YIF.

The admissions process opened on October 15, 2024 and is split into two rounds, with the first application deadline being January 5, 2025. Candidates are encouraged to apply early, even within a round, to partake in the rolling personal interviews process.

Aspiring candidates can apply by visiting apply.ashoka.edu.in to register and complete the online application. Following holistic assessment of applications, a number of candidates will be shortlisted for personal interviews. Additionally, some of these shortlisted candidates may be invited to interview for the Chancellor’s Merit Scholarship.

All Fellows who receive an offer of admission are guaranteed a minimum 25% tuition waiver, with some also being awarded the prestigious Chancellor’s Merit Scholarship. All admitted and waitlisted candidates will have the opportunity to apply for need-based Financial Aid, which goes upto a full-waiver on the entire fee along with stipends for additional assistance.

University of Southampton partners with Oxford International to launch first international campus in India

Mumbai, 23 October 2024: Oxford International Education Group (OIEG) and the University of Southampton have today announced a historic public-private partnership to deliver the first comprehensive campus in India under the New Education Policy. This will see the global top 100 University’s ‘triple helix’ framework, involving world-class education, research and knowledge exchange and enterprise, implemented in India.
As a key operational partner in India, OIEG will provide the investment and professional services needed to establish the campus in Delhi, working jointly with the University to deliver the same outstanding learning and employability outcomes as in the UK. The campus, based in Gurgaon, Delhi will be powered by both domestic and international faculty, reflecting a significant investment in India by both the University and OIEG. The first intake is planned for August 2025, launching with four undergraduate and two graduate degrees. Research and reach out activities will also begin with the launch of the campus.

This partnership highlights the shared commitment of OIEG and the University to developing transnational education (TNE) as a major strategic initiative. It supports OIEG’s strategy for expansion and diversification, while also aligning with national education policies by providing top quality international education tailored to the India context.
