Manohar, Dean, Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences & Research; Dr Satyanarayana Reddy, Medical Superintendent, AIMSR; Ms Aparna Reddy, COO, AIMSR & Dr Pavani, HOD Microbiology, AIMSR; is seen after inaugurating the White Coat Ceremony, hosted for the ‘MBBS Class of 2024’ students by Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, today at RNR Auditorium, Jubilee Hills.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Rooma Sinha said, being a medical student is a life changing event, the two most important attributes to be a doctor are intelligence and hard work, and you have both, because of which you are here. One thing I believe very much, and you must inculcate from today that you are the best advocate for your patient, you need to live up to the trust your patient comes to you with. You need to give him the best advice that you can, if you can’t collaborate with someone and give the best advice, which leaves an impression that you are their best advocate. When you converse with the patient be calm and confident for the patient to trust in what you are doing. Patients don’t need sympathy, they want someone who empathizes with their problem and tries to find a solution for it, therefore empathy with the patient is critical. Honesty is an attribute we need to imbibe, if you don’t know what the patient is suffering from, don’t do what you know, make sure the patient gets the right treatment, the right advice, your honesty will come back to you, if the patient gets better with your advice, they will remember you for life time, that’s the respect a doctor earns in his life, no other profession has that privilege. Be passionate about what you are doing, medicine won’t work without passion.

Chief Guest Dr Rooma Sinha (Seated 4th from Right), Honorary Professor, Gynecology, Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad; with the ‘MBBS Class of 2024’ students and faculty at the White Coat Ceremony, hosted by the Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, today at RNR Auditorium, Jubilee Hills.

White Coat Ceremony is a memorable experience for students taking their initial steps into the noble profession of Medicine, by joining the medical school. One hundred and fifty students of the 2024 batch of the Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, were welcomed into the medical fraternity by the faculty and were ceremonially “cloaked” with their white aprons. The students dressed elegantly in white, later took the Hippocrates oath, traditionally sworn at graduation.

Dr. K. Manohar said, the white coat ceremony marks the beginning of a student’s medical career. This phase needs the utmost attention from each student to lay a strong foundation for the medical career ahead. What we are doing at Apollo is different from any other college in the state. We are the first and the only institute to comply with the CBME curriculum in India and we introduced last year the taking up of proposal of research by the students in the first year itself, they go for data collection with the help of the mentor in the second phase and write the paper in the third year, so that you have good experience of doing some original research work in the field, this will be helpful in the wonderful program designed by NMC called family adoption program. Right from the first phase you are exposed to the society and people and develop a rich experience of communicating and understanding the disease profile in the society, which helps to formulate the problems the society is facing. These experiences will pave the way for brighter future for the students. Medicine is not like other streams, the day when you cease to read, your practice may come to an end, studying is an ongoing process, learning doesn’t stop with fetching a degree, till we die we need to continue updating our knowledge.

Ms. Aparna Reddy said, as you begin your medical journey I urge you to remember the oath you take today, remember the commitment you make to uphold the high standards of professionalism, to respect the autonomy and dignity of the patients and to provide compassionate and evidence based care.

The roundtable successfully brought together key industry professionals including educators and administrators to discuss actionable strategies for creating inclusive, personalized, and accessible learning experiences. The session focused on how institutions can enhance learning through innovative approaches and ensure that all students, regardless of physical or cognitive abilities benefit from these advances.

The event began with a discussion led by Dr. Sambhavi Chandrashekar, Global Accessibility lead, D2L. She said “At D2L, we strive to ‘reach every learner’ regardless of their age, ability or location. We don’t just offer a one-size-fits-all LMS; instead, we build tailored solutions that address specific challenges. With online learning and LMS, education becomes accessible to learners of any age or condition. We ensure our platform works for everyone, adapting to diverse needs.” She further stated, “Whether a student has a physical, cognitive, or sensory disability or faces other unique circumstances, we are committed to providing the tools, resources, and support they need to thrive. By putting accessibility at the core of our product design and development, we aim to redefine what’s possible in the world of education and empower a new generation of diverse, confident learners.”

He noted “Today’s education system is being transformed by generative AI (GenAI), predictive data analytics, and LMSs, making learning more accessible, personalized and efficient. GenAI enables ethical and engaging learning experiences through adaptive quizzes and assignments, fostering regular practice. Predictive analytics leverages LMS data to identify students excelling and those needing additional support, allowing educators to customize assignments based on individual learning levels. This ensures tailored intervention, improving outcomes for all learners.” He then emphasized “Technology has made education portable—students can interact with teachers anytime, anywhere, breaking traditional barriers. Innovative practices like video-based assignments enable creative expression and deeper understanding. These tools not only save time and reduce manual efforts for educators but also create an inclusive learning environment.”

This was followed by a roundtable discussion centered on three pivotal themes. First, panelists explored the transformative role of GenAI in education, emphasizing its potential to personalize learning, boost student engagement and streamline content creation. • 17,000 Schools Join the ALfA Movement Ahead of Nov Leadership Circle

DEVI Sansthan's MOOT Marks Major Milestone with 17,000 Schools Joining ALfA Movement

Lucknow, November 20, 2024: DEVI Sansthan, India’s leading advocate for foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN), proudly announces the resounding success of the recently concluded MOOT (Massive Online Open Training), a national virtual training program aimed at addressing the global crisis in foundational learning. This groundbreaking initiative is part of DEVI Sansthan’s efforts to provide innovative, scalable solutions to meet India’s FLN goals under the NIPUN Bharat Mission. From humble beginnings in 20 schools two years ago, ALfA is now growing rapidly in UP and beyond, with MOUs for 17,000 schools across several states.

Held as a precursor to the much-anticipated ‘Leadership Circle’ event on November 28th and 29th in Lucknow, MOOT brought together 3,000+ educators from across the country, equipping them with ALfA’s (Accelerating Learning for All) revolutionary pedagogy. This methodology focuses on cognitive connections, peer-led work, and a transformative approach that enables accelerated learning.

Policymakers have noticed ALfA’s potential to play a major part in efforts to reach NIPUN goals by 2026/27. “ALfA can help a lot, according to Mamta Maurya, a teacher from UP while speaking at the MOOT training of trainer program. She shared “When we explain things to the children, it takes time for them to understand. But when they learn from each other, it is much easier”. “Using mascots like Tina and Toto as a medium of expression itself creates curiosity and makes learning easier”, another teacher Rubina Rizwan voiced her opinion on the key learnings from the seminar.

In Uttar Pradesh, ALfA has demonstrated its effectiveness by achieving FLN targets in just 45 days, a feat that sets a new benchmark for academic transformation. This impact was further validated through a poll conducted during MOOT, in which 85% of the 1,187 participants expressed their strong preference for adopting ALfA as the primary FLN program in their classrooms.

Dr. Sunita Gandhi, Founder of Dignity Education Vision International (DEVI) Sansthan shares, “Although some critics oppose accelerating the learning process and even doubt its feasibility, the true danger lies in prolonging the mastery of basic skills. In a slow learning environment, children who fall behind often remain stuck in a cycle of remediation. They spend years repeating the basics while their peers move on to more advanced concepts. ALfA breaks this cycle by accelerating foundational learning for all children in a joyful, collaborative environment. By working with peers, engaging in hands-on activities, and receiving continuous feedback, children quickly master the basics, freeing them to tackle higher-order thinking tasks earlier in their educational journey. The real risk isn’t learning too quickly—it’s not learning quickly enough. Beyond third-party testing, the government’s own exam results tell a remarkable story by this method. Shamli district, a low-performing district of India came up to Rank 18 of 75 districts of UP and scored 36% in the NIPUN Assessment Test by the government, well above the state average of 24%, while the Hilauli block achieved 47% NIPUN status compared with the combined all the blocks of Unnao averaged just 15%. These interventions took between 30 to 45 days and show what is possible through an out-of-the-box pedagogy.”

The success of MOOT sets the stage for the ‘Leadership Circle’ where top policymakers and education leaders will convene to discuss strategies for accelerating FLN development. This event will also showcase ALfA’s success stories and provide a platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing.

“One of the most powerful aspects of ALfA is that it creates a joyful learning environment where children look forward to school each day. They learn through games, challenges, and real-world scenarios that make learning both meaningful and enjoyable. By fostering this excitement about education, ALfA sets the stage for a lifelong love of learning,” Dr. Sunita Gandhi, Founder of Dignity Education Vision International (DEVI) Sansthan further adds.

With over 3,000 educators already trained and eager to implement ALfA, DEVI Sansthan invites states and UTs to join the movement, to Beat the NIPUN Deadline. By partnering with DEVI Sansthan, education systems can ensure that every child has access to foundational literacy and numeracy, setting the foundation for lifelong learning and success.
