    PARIS, FRANCE: The JSW Group marked Olympic Day with the inauguration of an exhibition that celebrates the life and legacy of Pierre de Coubertin, the Founder of the Olympic Movement, along with commemorating 100 years of India’s presence at the Games, in the host city of Paris, on Sunday.

    Chairperson of the JSW Foundation, Mrs. Sangita Jindal, and Inspire Institute of Sport Founder, Parth Jindal were joined by President of the IOC, Mr. Thomas Bach, Minister of Culture, Madame Rachida Dati, Ambassador of India to the Republic of France, His Excellency Jawed Ashraf and the President of the Pierre de Coubertin Family Association, Mrs. Alexandra de Navacelle to open the exhibition that will be hosted at the Town Hall of the 7th Arrondissement, Paris, and will go on till the end of the Paris 2024 Summer Paralympic Games in September.

    Speaking on the occasion, Sangita Jindal, Chairperson of the JSW Foundation said, “JSW Group is pleased to support the curation of ‘100 Years of India at Olympics’ at the Genius of Sport exhibition in Paris.     The exhibition, in association with the Pierre de Coubertin Family Association, comprises a detailed walkthrough of India’s Olympic journey over the last century, the success the country has enjoyed in the past, and its recent resurgence with an eye on the future.

    EDISON, NJ: The Gandhian Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, hosted a cultural event to celebrate diversity and strengthen relations between India and the United States.

    The event welcomed over 25 esteemed organizations representing the vibrant tapestry of the Indian diaspora in the New York area. The esteemed Consul General of India in New York, Shri Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, was the guest of honor.

    “This evening, we celebrate more than just the arrival of a distinguished diplomat,” said Mahesh Wani, Secretary of the Gandhian Society. “We celebrate an opportunity to bridge cultures and communities, a principle that resonated deeply with Mahatma Gandhi.”

    The event highlighted the Gandhian Society’s commitment to inclusion, a cornerstone of Gandhi’s philosophy. It brought together individuals of all ages, genders, and backgrounds, united by their connection to India and its values.

    “Our organization fosters a spirit of inclusion,” Wani added. “We have experienced seniors who guide us with their vision, while our younger members translate that vision into action. This mentorship ensures the Society’s sustainability and cultivates future leaders.”

  • Smile Train’s Transformational Impact On Cleft Care Across India Highlighted In ‘Quality Of Life And Impact Report’ Released In Lucknow

    NEW DELHI: Smile Train, the world’s largest cleft-focused NGO, released an in-depth assessment report today showcasing the transformative impact of Smile Train’s cleft care interventions across the country in twenty years. Compiling data collected by consulting firm KPMG. The report deployed three research methodologies to get a holistic view of the social impact of Smile Train’s programs supporting cleft care over two decades. The report also highlights the USD 16 billion impact created in India through Smile Train’s investment in cleft treatment since 2000.

    Since 2000, Smile Train has supported more than Seven Lakh cleft surgeries across India. The key findings from the study reinforce that Smile Train’s program in India is aligned with global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and national priorities. It demonstrates the positive impact of Smile Train’s support in improving access to cleft treatment, enhancing hospital infrastructure, and positively influencing patients’ quality of life. All respondents indicated that Smile Train India’s support was crucial in addressing the challenges faced by individuals with clefts and their families.

    The cleft is a gap in the upper lip and/or the roof of the mouth (palate) and is a facial birth difference that affects one in 700 babies. An untreated cleft condition not only leads to facial differences in appearance, but health challenges related to eating, breathing, hearing, and speaking. Many children with clefts get bullied in schools and colleges and end up living in isolation.

    The sale of shares does not affect ZF’s control of ZF CVCS India, as it is the long-term strategy of ZF to maintain a solid majority shareholding in the entity. ZF CVCS India is the market leader in the Indian CV supplier industry and remains an important pillar in ZF´s global growth strategy.

    On the back of a supportive market environment in India, ZF CVCS India has shown strong operating and financial performance.

    The transaction will strengthen the financial flexibility of ZF, allowing it to invest in its further growth, and in the dynamically developing Indian market.

    KANPUR: The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK), a leading institute in the field of telecommunications, recently hosted a highly successful three-day training program on “Design and Development of 5G/5G+ Standards and Indigenous 5G Network” for officers from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India. The program, organized in collaboration with NTIPRIT and TEC, DoT, provided a comprehensive overview of 5G technology and its future advancements, with a special focus on India’s Indigenous 5G network development.

    The training program was spearheaded by Prof. Rohit Budhiraja from the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur, whose research group has played a pivotal role in developing India’s first indigenous 5G network, currently deployed on the institute’s campus. This advanced technology has been successfully transferred to the TATA-Tejas network and the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT).

    Over the three days, participants gained in-depth insights into the 5G physical layer, network architecture, and the intricate layers through which data is transmitted from the base station to user equipment. The program delved into the nuances of establishing a 5G network connection, coding, modulation, rate matching, and multiple antenna technologies.

    A significant portion of the training focused on the emerging 5G+ standard, encompassing technologies such as Ambient IoT, AI/ML applications, and high-accuracy positioning systems. Participants were introduced to the inner workings of the 3GPP standardization body and its working groups, cultivating a comprehensive understanding of the future of wireless communication.

    Complementing the theoretical sessions, participants had the opportunity to visit the 5G lab at IIT Kanpur and conduct experiments on the live indigenous 5G network. This hands-on experience allowed them to witness the technology in action, observe variations in modulation and coding schemes, analyze data rates, and generate physical layer signals.

    Prof. Rohit Budhiraja, the course organizer, said, “The training program provided a unique platform for DoT officers to gain first-hand knowledge of the Indigenous 5G technology developed at IIT Kanpur and the ongoing efforts towards shaping the 5G+ standard. We are confident that this experience will equip them with the necessary expertise to contribute to the advancement of telecommunications in India.“

  • CII And EHL Group Collaboration Builds On The Two Years Of Success Of VET By EHL Swiss Professional Diploma Delivered At AISSMS Pune

    The 18-month VET by EHL Swiss Professional Diploma program is a product of the renowned EHL Hospitality Business School in Switzerland.

    The program begins with six months of training at AISSMS Pune, followed by an Advanced Certificate Program and on-the-job training for 12 months at IHCL Hotels in cities across India by the best industry experts as faculty members.

    Students who have finished their Class 12 and/or graduated can enroll in this program.

    PUNE: In a significant initiative for skill development in Indian hospitality undertaken by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), an 18-month Vocational Education and Training (VET) Professional Diploma program offered in collaboration with EHL Hospitality Business School of Switzerland and delivered at AISSMS, Pune. The program has now been running very successfully for the last two years with over 100 students on the verge of graduating and joining the industry.

    This year, we plan to induct 100 students at our VET by EHL AISSMS Pune Centre and over 400+ students including our Chandigarh and Bangalore Centre. The duration of the program is 18 months out of which they are given a sound grounding of theory and practical in their area of specialization. The training at AISSMS is followed by an Advanced Certificate program and on-the-job training for 12 months at Select IHCL hotels.

    Praveen Roy, Advisor, Confederation of Indian Industry said: “The industry is poised for a 15-20% growth in hiring within the tourism and hospitality sector in India.     PUNE: Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune, observed World Elder Abuse Awareness Day through an initiative led by the institution’s Geriatric Medicine Department. The event aimed to raise awareness about elder abuse and promote a society that upholds the civil rights and dignity of older adults.

    The event featured an interactive session by Dr. Anu Gaikwad, Professor and Head of the Department of Geriatric Medicine, Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre on significant topics like Elder Abuse Awareness such as signs and symptoms of elder abuse, understanding of legal rights of old adults and available resources, how can families avoid conflicting situations that will lead to the abuse of the older generation. This was followed by a testimony session from elder abuse survivors and older adults living in harmony with their families. Also, an eye-opening role play was organized by the Department of Community Nursing of Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre.

    During the session, Dr. J S Bhawalkar, Dean, Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre said, “We must stand united to create a safer and more compassionate environment for our seniors, ensuring that they deserve respect and care they deserve. By hosting such an event we aimed to create awareness on this increasing problem and empower the community to take a stand against it.”

    Dr. Anu Gaikwad, Professor and Head of the Department of Geriatric Medicine, Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research, said, “Elder abuse is a significant public health issue that affects millions of older adults worldwide. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that older people live in dignity and free from abuse.”

    World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is observed annually on June 15th and was established by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse and the World Health Organization at the United Nations. This day is a call to action for different individuals, organizations -and communities to address elder abuse.
