19 November: Fynd, a unified commerce platform supported by Reliance Retail Ventures Limited, unveiled its 2025 Festive Season Report today, highlighting India’s transition from discount-led e-commerce expansion to strategies prioritizing operational efficiency and intelligent fulfillment systems.
As online retail penetration approaches 11% of total retail sales for 2025, the sector is undergoing rapid digital transformation. This shift is driven by increased accessibility, convenience, and affordability across India. The festive shopping period from September to October 2025—spanning Onam, Navratri, Dussehra, Karwa Chauth, and Diwali—was marked by value-focused shoppers, expanding demand from Tier 3 cities, and widespread adoption of omnichannel retail approaches.
Analyzing data from more than 60 brands across major platforms including Myntra, Flipkart, Amazon, AJIO, Nykaa, and Tata CLiQ, the report evaluates performance in apparel, footwear, and accessories. The findings reveal a maturing market where price sensitivity evolves into value-conscious purchasing behavior, convenience expectations, and supply chain innovation.
Delhi, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh emerged as leading regions by order volume, while Gujarat solidified its position as a growing demand center. Southern states spearheaded by Karnataka contributed substantially to both consumption and fulfillment, with Bengaluru and Hyderabad ranking among top metropolitan contributors. This region also led nationwide in digital payment adoption, which accounted for 53% of festive transactions. Cash-on-delivery maintained popularity in smaller cities, reflecting India’s hybrid retail landscape where digital progress coexists with traditional preferences.

From measured discounting and logistics optimization to geographic diversification and payment innovation, retailers now focus on year-round operational excellence rather than temporary festive boosts. Success increasingly depends on agility, omnichannel integration, and granular consumer segmentation.
Globally, the findings position India’s e-commerce sector in contrast to cautiously optimistic mature markets. While global consumers prioritize essentials, India’s distinctive combination of affordability, digital progress, and regional diversity maintains its status as one of the world’s most dynamic retail ecosystems.
