A National Honour Celebrated: “Mog Asum” Receives the Rajat Kamal at the 72nd National Film Awards

It marked a landmark moment for Konkani cinema and the creators of Mog Asum when the film was formally honoured with the Rajat Kamal for Best Konkani Film at the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony, celebrated before the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, at Ekta Nagar, Kevadia, Gujarat, on 22 September 2026.

Although the Best Konkani Film award had been announced earlier in the year, its formal presentation at the National Film Awards ceremony represented a major achievement for the team. The honour was bestowed on the producers and directors of Mog Asum, with Sharad Mittal standing in for the producers and Agnelo Angelo Braganza and Radheshyam Pipalwa representing the directors at the event.

For the makers of Mog Asum, this recognition is especially meaningful because the Best Konkani Film award honours both the producers and the directors, highlighting the film’s collaborative nature. According to the official National Film Awards announcement, the producers are Flowing Mandovi Films LLP, R S Creations and Kathputlee Arts and Films Pvt. Ltd., while the directors are Radheshyam Pipalwa and Agnelo Angelo Braganza.

The ceremony also showcased some of India’s most prominent creative and technical talent, celebrating excellence in acting, production design, direction and filmmaking across the country’s many languages and cinematic traditions.
