Abu Dhabi, UAE – Feb 3: AD Ports Group (ADX: ADPORTS), a leading global provider of integrated trade, logistics, and industrial solutions, has secured a USD 115 million project finance facility to develop the Noatum Ports – Safaga Terminal in Egypt. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) spearheaded the financing initiative, with additional participation from National Bank of Kuwait – Egypt (NBK – Egypt) and other institutional investors through the IFC-managed co-lending portfolio program. Structured with a 15-year tenure, the facility underscores international confidence in both the project’s viability and Egypt’s growing role within global supply chains.

Required approvals for the financing have been obtained, with final completion anticipated in Q1 2026 pending standard closing conditions.

This agreement aligns with AD Ports Group’s strategic approach of utilizing multilateral financing to support the development of long-term infrastructure projects in emerging markets.

Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO, AD Ports Group, stated: “This landmark facility demonstrates our disciplined funding strategy for international infrastructure development through multilateral partnerships. The involvement of IFC, NBK – Egypt, and global investors strengthens our Safaga Terminal project and expands our presence in Egypt – a strategic market for supply chain resilience. Guided by the UAE leadership’s vision, we remain focused on delivering transformative infrastructure that enhances connectivity, drives sustainable growth, and creates enduring stakeholder value.”

Makhtar Diop, Managing Director, IFC, commented: “Trade advancement is fundamental to economic development. This collaboration showcases how IFC enables South-South investments to enhance Egypt’s position as a regional trade hub while reducing logistics costs for local businesses. The project will generate high-quality employment and reinforce the UAE’s role as an economic integration catalyst.”

Yasser El Tayeb, Vice Chairman, CEO & Managing Director, NBK – Egypt, remarked: “Our participation reaffirms NBK-Egypt’s dedication to financing infrastructure with sustainable socioeconomic impact, including environmental benefits through CO2 reduction. Partnering with IFC and AD Ports Group reflects our confidence in Egypt’s logistics potential.”

Located on Egypt’s Red Sea coast, the USD 200 million Noatum Ports – Safaga Terminal will be Upper Egypt’s first internationally operated port facility. This project forms part of AD Ports Group’s strategy to develop high-performance logistics hubs in key global trade corridors, particularly Egypt, which has emerged as one of its most significant international markets.

The Group’s Egyptian portfolio spans container shipping, terminal operations, maritime agency services, and cruise terminal development in Safaga, Hurghada, and Sharm El Sheikh. A complementary 50-year renewable usufruct agreement for KEZAD East Port Said, a 20 km² logistics hub near the Suez Canal’s Mediterranean gateway, further expanded these activities in 2025.

Strengthening its influence across Mediterranean and Red Sea trade routes, AD Ports Group recently acquired a 19.328% stake in Alexandria Container & Cargo Handling Company (ALCN), among Egypt’s largest terminal operators. The Group also announced plans for a mandatory tender offer to potentially achieve majority ownership in ALCN, which operates key Mediterranean terminals in Alexandria and El-Dekheila. This investment complements AD Ports Group’s Egyptian expansion while delivering measurable financial returns.
