Adani Power Reports Growth in Profit Before Tax

Ahmedabad, Jan 29: Adani Power Limited announced a 5.3% year-on-year increase in continuing profit before tax (PBT) for Q3 FY26, reaching ₹2,800 crore despite subdued energy demand triggered by extended monsoons and milder temperatures.

The company attributed this growth to reduced finance costs and operational stability, according to regulatory filings. Quarterly PBT rose from ₹2,659 crore reported in the same quarter last fiscal year.

CEO S.B. Khyalia emphasized the company’s resilient operational framework: “Our strong competitive edge and cost-effective plants continue to drive robust performance and liquidity. Project execution advances ahead of schedule,” he stated.

Continuing revenue for the quarter stood at ₹12,717 crore, down from ₹13,434 crore in Q3 FY25, reflecting softer merchant power tariffs. However, EBITDA remained solid at ₹4,636 crore, underscoring operational resilience despite market headwinds.

India’s power demand stayed muted at 392 billion units during the quarter, slightly below prior-year levels. Analysts cited persistent monsoon conditions through October and cooler weather for tempering consumption compared to FY25’s heatwave-driven spike.

The company enhanced revenue predictability by securing a 3,200 MW power purchase agreement with Assam Power Distribution Company, bringing 90% of operating capacity under long-term contracts. Total PPA-backed capacity now stands at 11.7 GW.

For the nine-month period ending December 2025, continuing PBT totaled ₹9,896 crore against ₹10,679 crore YoY, impacted by accelerated depreciation from recent acquisitions. Power sales grew 3.4% to 71.8 billion units during this period.
