EbixCash highlights cross-border financial connectivity as the next major opportunity for India’s fintech ecosystem at GFF 2026

Sept 12: EbixCash is gearing up to accelerate the growth of its cross‑border financial services operations, pinpointing international payments, trade remittances and global money movement as core priorities for its upcoming phase. The company unveiled this strategic direction at the inaugural session of the 7th Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai, where Guruprasad T C, Managing Director & CEO of Ebix Payment Solutions, joined leading fintech executives, policymakers and industry stakeholders to explore the development of India’s digital financial ecosystem and its expanding ties with global markets.

Key Takeaways

  • EbixCash is prioritizing cross-border financial services growth, focusing on international payments and trade remittances.
  • The strategy was unveiled at the 7th Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai.
  • Guruprasad T C, MD & CEO of Ebix Payment Solutions, joined fintech leaders to discuss India’s digital financial evolution.
  • The move builds on India’s domestic digital payments success, extending it to global markets.

The firm’s appearance at GFF 2026 coincides with India’s progression to the next stage of its digital financial evolution – extending the success of its domestic digital infrastructure to broader global interoperability. Under the theme “Potential to Impact,” the gathering brought together the worldwide fintech community to assess how emerging technologies and digital infrastructure can foster more connected, secure and inclusive financial systems. The event was inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, with Shri Sanjay Malhotra, Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, and Mr Kris Gopalakrishnan, Chair of GFF 2026, in attendance.

This strategic push builds on recent regulatory and infrastructure advancements that have expanded EbixCash’s capacity to engage in international financial flows. The company recently became India’s first non‑bank entity to receive RBI approval for trade remittances, while its partnership with Banking Circle provides access to local clearing systems in major markets including the United Kingdom and the European Union. This expansion leverages EbixCash’s existing distribution and customer reach, which includes over 100 branches across more than 70 cities, a presence at 20+ international airports and more than 25,000 customer touchpoints.

Guruprasad T C, Managing Director & CEO, Ebix Payment Solutions, said, “India has demonstrated the transformative potential of digital financial infrastructure at an extraordinary scale. The next opportunity is to extend that capability across borders and make global financial journeys more seamless. At EbixCash, we have built significant scale across payments, foreign exchange and remittances, and we are now expanding our ability to support a broader range of international financial flows. For us, the opportunity is not simply about moving more money across borders; it is about removing friction from the entire financial journey. Whether it is a student making an education payment, a traveller accessing foreign currency, an individual receiving money from overseas or a business settling an international transaction, there is significant scope to make these experiences faster, simpler and more transparent. Emerging technologies such as Agentic AI and tokenisation can further accelerate this evolution, provided they are deployed with strong foundations of trust, security, compliance and consumer protection.”

For EbixCash, this opportunity is underpinned by its established position in international money movement. EbixCash World Money processes more than 75% of India’s cash‑to‑cash inward remittances, giving the company a leading role in one of the country’s key cross‑border financial flows. Its broader payments ecosystem spans foreign exchange, inward and outward remittances, domestic and international money transfer, digital wallets, prepaid instruments and cross‑border B2B and B2C payments, providing capabilities across multiple international financial use cases.

At GFF 2026, Guruprasad and the EbixCash team engaged with fintech companies, financial institutions, technology providers and other ecosystem stakeholders across foreign exchange, cross‑border payments, remittances, trade remittances, domestic digital payments, prepaid cards, NCMC, student fee remittances, maintenance remittances, stablecoins and GIFT City. The discussions centred on identifying new partnerships, technology applications and international corridors that can support the company’s expanding cross‑border business.

With regulatory access widening, international payment infrastructure strengthening and its domestic distribution network continuing to scale, EbixCash is positioning itself to play a larger role in the movement of money between India and global markets. Its focus will be on building greater connectivity across payment corridors and use cases while leveraging technology to make international financial services more accessible, efficient and transparent.
