The government will table the Economic Survey 2026 in Parliament on Thursday ahead of the Union Budget 2026-27 presentation on February 1. The document will outline India’s economic trajectory amid global challenges.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Economic Survey, with particular attention on GDP growth projections for the current fiscal year (FY26) and the upcoming financial year (FY27). This pre-budget report details annual economic developments and outlines short-to-medium-term prospects.

Chief Economic Advisor V Anantha Nageswaran addressed critical themes including currency fluctuations and geopolitical instability in a media column published Thursday.

Parliament’s Budget Session commenced Wednesday with President Droupadi Murmu addressing the joint sitting of both Houses. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the presidential address as comprehensive, highlighting its focus on building a developed India (Viksit Bharat) and strengthening national self-reliance.

The Prime Minister noted the address both highlighted recent economic achievements and provided strategic guidance for future progress. President Murmu framed 2026 as a foundational year for India’s transformation into a developed nation, citing significant progress across key sectors over the past decade.
