Straive and Imagetwin Partner to Strengthen Image Integrity Screening in Scientific Publishing

New York, September 23, 2026 – Straive, a prominent provider of AI and data solutions, has entered into a strategic alliance with Imagetwin, a specialist in image integrity analysis software. This collaboration aims to integrate advanced image forensics directly into the standard editorial processes of scientific publishers.
The evolution of image manipulation in scientific literature has surpassed simple edits. With the advent of Generative AI and GAN-produced figures, creating fraudulent data that evades standard detection has become a significant risk. When these issues are identified only after publication, the subsequent correction and investigation can be expensive, time-consuming, and detrimental to a journal’s reputation. The industry is now shifting its focus toward detecting these discrepancies early, specifically during the pre-peer review stage.
By integrating Imagetwin’s sophisticated analysis capabilities into the Straive aiKira Editorial Desk API, publishers can now automatically screen for AI-generated, plagiarized, duplicated, or manipulated visuals. This function acts alongside aiKira’s existing suite of over 20 automated integrity checks, which cover authorship, text, reference verification, and journal scope. Results from a pilot study demonstrated that this integrated approach successfully identified 98% of image integrity violations, including both known manipulations and AI-synthesized figures. Implementing these checks upstream allows publishers to intercept compromised research before it progresses through the publication pipeline.
Srinivasan Govindarajan, Straive’s Business Head for Science & Research, remarked: “The integrity of scientific research is facing unprecedented pressure, and our partnership is a direct response to this growing crisis. By combining our technologies, we are helping publishers protect the credibility of scientific records at scale and proactively combat fraud through technological innovation.”
Patrick Starke, Co-Founder and CEO of Imagetwin, added: “Addressing integrity issues at the earliest possible stage makes them far easier and less costly to resolve. Through our partnership with Straive, we are embedding image integrity screening directly into established editorial workflows via aiKira, ensuring that automated checks occur at scale before any problems reach the peer review phase.”
