Celebrating Christmas Spirit: With Love NGO’s Joyful Day Out for 40 Special Children

Pune: In a heartwarming display of festive spirit, With Love NGO recently organized a special Christmas outing for 40 children with special needs from the Society for the Education of the Challenged in Naigaon, Kamshet, along with their caregivers. This marked the children’s first-ever visit to the city of Pune.

The day commenced with a serene visit to the Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Mandir, where many of the children experienced the grandeur of a large urban temple for the very first time, setting a peaceful tone for the festivities.

The highlight of the afternoon was a joyous celebratory lunch hosted at Elephant & Co., made possible through the collaborative efforts of Minoti Makim of Carpe Diem. Minoti emphasized, “The true essence of Christmas lies not in grand gestures, but in the simple act of showing up for those who need joy and community the most. It was truly gratifying to be able to do that together.” The restaurant welcomed the children with an extraordinary and thoughtfully curated food spread, a gesture that embodied genuine generosity and warmth.

The children were treated to a specially prepared meal, courtesy of Karan, the founder of Elephant & Co., who expressed that hosting the group was an honor for his team. He shared that the team’s aim was to make the children feel seen, welcomed, and celebrated through the special meal prepared just for them.

Adding to the festive cheer, Minoti’s friend Yalda decided to celebrate her birthday with the children, arriving with Santa Claus, gifts for all, and a cake that she cut surrounded by beaming faces, creating an unforgettable moment of joy and celebration.

Dimple Somji, the founder of With Love NGO, reflected on the experience, noting that it was a first in every sense for the children – their first visit to Pune, their first large-scale restaurant meal, and most importantly, their first experience of being celebrated by an entire community. This experience not only brought them joy but also a sense of belonging and connection.

The day drew to a close with the children returning home, each carrying gifts, cherished memories, and the warmth of a city that had opened its heart to them.
