A heartwarming mass wedding ceremony was held at Punyadham Ashram, where 18 couples, including 9 visually-impaired couples, tied the knot in a beautiful and traditional Maharashtrian ceremony.
Pune: The 10th annual mass marriage event at Punyadham Ashram took place on November 30th, 2025, and was a grand success. The event was attended by over 2500 people and featured 18 couples from different parts of Maharashtra, who got married without any expense or dowry. This unique initiative has been organized by Punyadham Ashram for the past decade, and has helped over 165 couples from humble families tie the knot in a grand celebration.
The atmosphere at the venue was electric, with the sound of shehnai, floral decorations, and a festive atmosphere everywhere. The brides looked stunning in gold-red sarees and jewelry, while the grooms were dressed in traditional sherwanis, phetas, and mojris. The baraat procession of the grooms was a sight to behold, with the baraatis dancing and the brides’ families eagerly waiting to welcome them.
The marriage ceremony was performed in a traditional Maharashtrian style, with the learned pandits chanting the wedding rituals. The couples exchanged vows and performed the pheras and kanyadaan ceremony in the presence of esteemed guests. Maa Krishna Kashyap, Chairperson of Punyadham Ashram, said, “Our organization is committed to bringing about a change in the mindset of the people by discouraging the custom of dowry and supporting girls from underprivileged families to have a beautiful wedding ceremony with their loved ones.“
The event was attended by several eminent personalities, including President CA Sadananda Shetty, Secretary Ghanshyam Zawar, Trustee Ganesh Kamthe, and renowned philanthropist Smt. Mamata Sindhutai Sapkal. The guests blessed the newlyweds and presented them with gifts and trousseau, consisting of household items, dinner sets, cookers, blankets, new sarees, and salwar-kameez sets, to help them start their married life.
After the traditional rituals, the couples were treated to a lavish Maharashtrian lunch, which was enjoyed by all. It was a delightful sight to see the couples who were married a few years ago come together to celebrate this special occasion. The whole credit for this noble initiative goes to Maa Krishna Kashyap, who meticulously planned and executed the event with perfection.
