Synchrony Bets Big on Hyderabad with Largest Global Experience Center

HYDERABAD — Synchrony, a U.S.-based consumer finance firm, has opened its biggest global Experience Center alongside a revamped Innovation Station at its Hyderabad campus, underscoring India’s rising status as a technology, AI, and product‑innovation hub.

Key Takeaways

  • Synchrony opened its largest global Experience Center, alongside a revamped Innovation Station, at its Hyderabad campus.
  • The roughly 6,000 sq ft center is Synchrony’s third worldwide, serving its Indian workforce of over 6,000 employees.
  • It features interactive customer pathways, VR demos and real-world scenarios spanning health, home, lifestyle and digital banking products.
  • CTO Florin Arghirescu said the facility aims to boost cross-functional collaboration and speed up innovation.

Spanning roughly 6,000 square feet, the new center is Synchrony’s third Experience Center worldwide—after two in the United States. It is built to serve the company’s Indian workforce of over 6,000 employees and offers customers and partners an immersive space to discover Synchrony’s offerings, tech solutions, and customer experiences.

The Experience Center showcases interactive customer pathways, virtual‑reality demos, and real‑world business scenarios that illustrate how Synchrony’s financial products are created and deployed across health & wellness, home & auto, lifestyle financing, digital banking, and consumer lending.

According to Synchrony Chief Technology Officer Florin Arghirescu, the new facilities aim to promote cross‑functional teamwork and speed up innovation.

“Together, these facilities create an environment where our teams can collaborate across disciplines, explore emerging technologies and transform ideas into meaningful business outcomes,” Arghirescu said.

The company also introduced a redesigned Innovation Station—a collaborative space where staff can test emerging tech, build prototypes, join hackathons, and craft AI‑driven solutions.

Rachana Bahadur, Synchrony’s Country Head for India, noted that the Experience Center was designed to help employees gain deeper insight into the customers they serve.

“The Experience Center is designed for our colleagues to better understand the customers we serve, see the impact of the work they do every day, and come together to learn, connect, collaborate and innovate,” Bahadur said.

The launch highlights Synchrony’s growing commitment to India, where its people contribute across AI, cloud engineering, cybersecurity, analytics, digital product development, operations, marketing, and risk management. While the firm has offices in Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi NCR, and Kolkata, Hyderabad remains its biggest tech hub.

Headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut, Synchrony is among the United States’ largest consumer financial services companies, partnering with hundreds of retailers, healthcare providers and other businesses to offer store credit cards, installment financing, consumer banking products and payment solutions—serving more than 70 million customers and over 400,000 businesses.

The Hyderabad facility also reflects a wider trend of multinationals expanding their Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India. These centers are increasingly leading product development, AI research, and innovation for global markets, rather than merely acting as offshore support units.

For India’s tech talent, the investment reinforces Hyderabad’s reputation as a premier destination for high‑value engineering and innovation, with global firms continuing to set up strategic operations in the city.
