ICICI Bank Q2 net profit inches up 3.2% to ₹13,357 crore
2 min readICICI Bank reported a consolidated quarterly profit of ₹13,357 crore for the September quarter, marking a 3.2% increase compared to the same period last year.
The bank had recorded a consolidated net profit of ₹12,948 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
On a standalone basis, India’s second-largest private lender announced a 5.2% year-on-year profit growth, with net earnings rising to ₹12,359 crore from ₹11,746 crore.
The bank’s core net interest income expanded by 7.4% to ₹21,529 crore, driven by a 10.6% advance in loan growth. This performance occurred despite a marginal compression in net interest margin, which eased to 4.30% from 4.36% a year earlier.
Non-interest income (excluding treasury operations) climbed 13.2% to ₹7,356 crore, while treasury income witnessed a significant decline to ₹220 crore from ₹680 crore during the same quarter last year.
Deposit growth during the quarter stood at 9.1%.
Asset quality showed improvement, with gross non-performing assets ratio declining to 1.58% as of September 30. This represents an improvement from 1.67% at June quarter-end and 1.97% a year earlier.
Total provisions decreased by 34% year-on-year to ₹914 crore (from ₹1,233 crore) and nearly halved from ₹1,815 crore in the preceding quarter.
The bank maintained strong capital buffers with an overall capital adequacy ratio of 17.31%, including a core equity tier-1 ratio of 17.06% as of September 30.
