U.S. President Donald Trump indicated he may appoint former Fed governor Kevin Warsh or National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett as the next Federal Reserve chair. Trump shared these preferences during a conversation with the Wall Street Journal.
“Yes, probably him. You have Kevin and Kevin. Both are excellent candidates,” Trump stated in the Oval Office discussion.
Trump also expressed his belief that future Federal Reserve chairs should consult the president on interest rate decisions. “That approach isn’t common now but was standard practice before. My perspective deserves consideration,” he emphasized.
The White House hasn’t issued official confirmation regarding these potential nominations.
