RBI and ECB sign a new MoU for strengthening central bank cooperation

The MoU was signed by RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra and ECB President Christine Lagarde on the sidelines of the Bank for International Settlements meetings in Basel, according to an RBI release.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the European Central Bank (ECB) signed a fresh Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Sunday to deepen central‑bank cooperation.

The agreement was put into place by RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra and ECB President Christine Lagarde on the fringes of the BIS meetings in Basel, as stated in an RBI release.

The updated MoU, which replaces the 2015 pact, sets out a framework for regular information exchange, policy dialogue and technical collaboration on areas of mutual interest to the two central banks.
