Reserve Bank of India Governor Sanjay Malhotra emphasized the importance of vigilance against KYC-related fraudulent activities and improper account usage during an address on Monday.

Speaking at the launch of Financial Literacy Week’s 11th edition themed “KYC – Your First Step to Safe Banking,” Malhotra engaged senior officials from the RBI, NABARD, and commercial bank leadership.

He encouraged financial institutions to leverage the awareness week to educate customers about the simplicity and necessity of KYC compliance, streamlined onboarding through the Central KYC Records Registry (CKYCR), and re-KYC processes.

The Governor highlighted how KYC protocols form the foundation for secure, reliable, and accessible banking services. The nationwide Financial Literacy Week campaign will run from February 9 to 13, 2026.
