Mumbai / New Delhi, October 2025 – Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited (KMBL) has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering India’s entrepreneurial landscape by launching Season 2 of its Kotak BizLabs Accelerator Programme. This CSR-backed initiative aims to provide early-stage startups with mentorship, seed funding, and market-access opportunities to accelerate their growth.
The program, initially launched in 2023, has already established itself as a vital platform for nurturing founders. Now in its second season, KMBL seeks to amplify its impact across India, with a focus on high-growth sectors and underserved regions.
Expanding Vision: Key Features of Season 2
Running from October 2025 to November 2026, the accelerator plans to support over 75 startups in sectors such as deep tech, sustainability, fintech, agritech, edtech, healthtech, and digital solutions. Notable upgrades include:
- Broader Incubation Network: IIT Delhi’s Foundation for Innovation & Technology Transfer (FITT) has joined forces with existing partners IIMA Ventures, NSRCEL–IIM Bangalore, and T-Hub to ensure nationwide coverage.
- Expanded Reach: The program will engage 800+ startups across 20+ cities through workshops, networking events, and roadshows.
- Enhanced Funding Support: Over 60 ventures will receive catalytic grants and seed-stage capital during the cycle.
Himanshu Nivsarkar, Head of CSR & ESG at Kotak Mahindra Bank, stated, “Kotak BizLabs is a mission to drive innovation beyond metros. Season 2 scales our pledge to empower visionary founders building solutions for India and beyond.”
Building on Season 1’s Success
The inaugural season of Kotak BizLabs accelerated 55 startups, provided grants or funding to 32 ventures, and allocated ₹5 crore in CSR funds. These startups later secured over ₹12 crore in follow-on investments. Season 1 focused on emerging themes like agritech, climate tech, fintech, and grassroots crafts, setting the stage for a more ambitious second phase.
Significance for India’s Ecosystem
Empowering Tier-II and Tier-III Founders
Kotak BizLabs prioritizes founders in smaller cities—regions often neglected by traditional investors. The initiative democratizes access to mentorship, capital, and infrastructure, enabling entrepreneurs to innovate within their communities.
Strategic Mentorship & Accountability
Partner incubators equip founders with bootcamps, angel networks, and guidance from industry veterans, ensuring measurable progress at each stage.
Catalytic Funding Philosophy
KMBL treats funding as a launchpad rather than a lifeline, helping startups overcome early operational challenges before attracting larger investments. This approach proved successful in Season 1.
Alignment with National Goals
As India strengthens its position among global startup leaders, programs like Kotak BizLabs advance grassroots innovation, inclusive growth, and the reach of India’s startup mission into emerging cities.
Ecosystem Perspectives
- Anand Sri Ganesh (CEO, NSRCEL): “The initiative is transformative for Tier-II and Tier-III innovators.”
- Chintan Bakshi (Partner, IIMA Ventures): “It creates structured pathways for early-stage founders to connect with investors.”
- Kavikrut (CEO, T-Hub): “Participants refined strategies and validated market fit through the program’s ecosystem.”
- Dr. Nikhil Agarwal (MD, FITT, IIT Delhi): “We’re nurturing startups with global ambition and social impact.”
Applications & Timeline
DPIIT-registered startups are invited to apply for Season 2 through the Kotak BizLabs portal. Selected founders gain access to bootcamps, pitch sessions, workshops, and networking events hosted by partner incubators throughout the year.
Challenges & Opportunities
While the program has shown promise, scaling it effectively requires addressing:
- Quality at scale: Ensuring personalized mentorship as participant numbers rise.
- Geographic reach: Extending beyond cities into underserved regions.
- Post-program sustainability: Maintaining access to funding and markets post-acceleration.
- Impact measurement: Tracking success through job creation, sustainable growth, and social impact.
The Road Ahead
Kotak BizLabs Season 2 represents a strategic investment in India’s entrepreneurial future. By widening its incubator network, expanding funding, and deepening its focus on Tier-II and Tier-III regions, KMBL is positioning itself as a force for inclusive, sustainable innovation. For founders seeking to turn ideas into scalable ventures, this program could be the catalyst to propel India’s status as a global innovation hub.
