Drone Startup SUIND Raises Rs 20.5 Crore in Seed Round Led by Transition VC

SUIND, a drone company focused on agriculture, secured Rs 20.5 crore (about US$2.2 million) in a seed round led by Transition Venture Capital Fund, with additional backing from IIMA Ventures and CIIE Initiatives. Transition contributed Rs 20 crore and CIIE Initiatives added Rs 50 lakh, giving the firm a post‑money valuation of roughly Rs 80 crore.
Founded in 2020 by Kunal Shrivastava and Kevin Kleber, SUIND designs autonomous UAVs that navigate using computer vision instead of GPS. This enables the drones to fly close to the ground and in areas without GPS signals—situations where traditional drones often fail—making them useful for farming, monitoring, and inspecting infrastructure.
SUIND has already rolled out its DGCA‑approved autonomous spraying drone, Bumblebee, on farms and plantations. With the new funding, it aims to widen Bumblebee’s rollout, speed up work on its surveillance and inspection drone (sometimes called WASP), bolster its core autonomy tech, and grow its engineering staff. The firm also plans to adapt its drone solutions for industrial uses beyond farming within the next one‑to‑two years.
The latest infusion follows SUIND’s earlier seed round of Rs 5 crore in November 2023, which was led by Sunicon Ventures and included Zetta Farms plus several angel backers.
After this round, Transition Venture Capital Fund holds the biggest external share at 25 %. Founders Kunal Shrivastava and Kevin Kleber each retain about 25.08 %, Sunicon Ventures owns 9.22 %, and CIIE Initiatives possesses 0.62 %.
SUIND has not yet submitted its FY26 financials. Its latest filings show it is still pre‑revenue and posted a loss of Rs 1.89 crore in FY25.
The investment arrives as interest in India’s drone sector rises. Listed drone manufacturer ideaForge recently gathered Rs 500 crore via a qualified institutional placement, and startup EndureAir secured Rs 30 crore in government RDIF grant funding in May.
