The event was held simultaneously across more than 10,500 locations nationwide, as stated in a press release by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

More than 1,000 participants, including educators from various parts of Delhi, joined alongside athletes, fitness influencers, and youth. Notable athletes included Olympic bronze medalist Abhishek Nain from the Indian hockey team, chess icon Tania Sachdev, emerging javelin star Sachin Yadav, and Rohtash Chaudhary, known as India’s Push-up Man. The event featured a street play dedicated to teachers, yoga sessions, skipping exercises, fitness games, and activity zones for children.

Minister Mandaviya addressed attendees, describing the initiative as a genuine national movement: “Thousands of citizens across 10,500+ locations cycle every Sunday as part of their fitness routine. This embodies our Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Fit India vision.”

He added, “If citizens dedicate just one hour to physical activity, India will progress stronger, healthier, and more united toward a developed nation. Teachers participating today inspire students to maintain life balance—just as bicycle pedals teach us that moving forward requires equilibrium. This balance stems from fitness.”

Organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) with the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), Yogasana Bharat, and MY Bharat, the cycling initiative has become one of India’s most significant fitness campaigns. The event also marked the launch of the official Fit India Sundays on Cycle anthem.

The New Delhi edition was conducted with the Raahgiri Foundation and Fitspire, while Dr. Shikha Gupta led the rope-skipping activities.

Rohtash Chaudhary, the “Pushup Man of India” and Fit India Movement ambassador, announced his upcoming Guinness World Record attempt for most push-ups in one hour with a 60 lb pack on November 2, 2025, at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medalist Abhishek Nain praised the initiative: “Fitness is fundamental for athletes. Seeing India embrace this culture is inspiring—especially its growth over recent months.”

Grandmaster Tania Sachdev, returning for her second Sundays on Cycle event, connected the movement to PM Modi’s vision: “The Prime Minister has turned fitness into a national movement. Watching teachers, students, and athletes unite through cycling was truly heartening.”
