IHG signs first Holiday Inn hotel in Nepal’s Sudurpashchim Province

IHG Hotels & Resorts has formalized a partnership with Club Chaulani Ltd. to establish Holiday Inn Dhangadhi, a 115-room property in Nepal’s Dhangadhi region. Slated to welcome guests in Q1 2028, this project represents the hospitality group’s debut in Sudurpashchim Province and aligns with its strategy of entering promising yet underserved markets across South Asia.

Recognized worldwide with more than 1,200 operational properties, the Holiday Inn brand adapts continuously to contemporary traveler preferences. The establishment in Dhangadhi will embody the brand’s signature hospitality—characterized by dependable quality, inviting service, and a commitment to helping guests optimize their travel experiences.

Strategically situated within a mixed-use complex in Dhangadhi’s city center, the hotel lies roughly 8.5 kilometers from Dhangadhi Airport. Its proximity to the India-Nepal border positions it to serve diverse travelers, including professionals, government personnel, transit visitors, and tourists exploring regional highlights like Shuklaphanta National Park and Ghodaghodi Lake. This dual appeal strengthens its ability to attract both domestic and international visitors.

The property will feature 115 thoughtfully designed guest rooms alongside multiple dining options, including an All Day Dining venue, a pool bar, and a specialty restaurant. Event spaces will include flexible meeting rooms and a ballroom, while additional amenities such as a fitness center and swimming pool will enhance guest stays.

Sudeep Jain, Managing Director for South West Asia at IHG Hotels & Resorts, remarked, “Dhangadhi demonstrates substantial growth potential fueled by infrastructure advancements, cross-border commerce, and increasing domestic tourism. Holiday Inn Dhangadhi is poised to serve these evolving demands, offering value for our partners at Club Chaulani.”

Rajendra K.C, Chairman of Club Chaulani, added, “Our collaboration with IHG enables us to introduce Holiday Inn’s trusted hospitality to Dhangadhi. As the city emerges as a regional commercial and tourism hub, we’re confident this venture will elevate service standards while leveraging IHG’s international expertise.”

This agreement underscores IHG’s commitment to expanding its footprint across high-growth South Asian destinations. The hotel is anticipated to stimulate the region’s hospitality sector while accommodating rising business and leisure travel needs.

IHG currently operates 51 hotels in India spanning six brands such as InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza, and Holiday Inn Express, with an additional 80 properties expected to launch within the next three to five years.
