Starting May 28, 2026, Hermitage Hotel and Resort will become part of Starhotels Collezione, enriching the group’s luxury resort collection and breathing new life into one of Versilia’s long‑standing summer getaways.
Situated in Forte dei Marmi, the property spans over 1.5 hectares of private gardens and green space, providing a secluded, nature‑focused stay that captures the classic charm and relaxed pace of an Italian summer.
Hermitage Hotel and Resort has long occupied a unique spot in Forte dei Marmi’s hospitality scene, celebrated for its intimate vibe, expansive outdoor areas, and subtle elegance.
Rather than a typical beachfront hotel, the estate is crafted as a private nature retreat, with gardens, shaded walkways, and open areas woven directly into the guest experience.
Just a few minutes from the shore, the trip to the beach itself is part of the Forte dei Marmi experience, offering guests the option to cycle or take the resort’s private electric shuttle to the seafront.
The property offers 59 spacious rooms and suites, many suited for extended stays. Options include private terraces or livable verandas that look out over the surrounding greenery, while interiors echo Versilia’s natural palette—sand, sky, and foliage—paired with warm textures and modern comfort.
At the heart of the outdoor experience lies Cabana Beach, a poolside concept inspired by the iconic beach cabanas of Forte dei Marmi. Encircled by tropical landscaping—palms, banana trees, and strelitzias—it provides a relaxed social and leisure setting where guests can linger for hours under shaded seating in tranquil surroundings.
The resort’s culinary scene spans several venues and concepts, all centered on seasonal ingredients, local flavors, and informal luxury.
Guests can enjoy everything from pizza and barbecue to classic Versilian dishes, while Orto all’Hermitage Restaurant stands as the property’s signature farm‑to‑table venue.
Encircled by lemon trees, fragrant herbs, and blooming flowers, the restaurant puts the resort’s organic garden at the core of its culinary philosophy. The company notes that the garden also enhances the guest experience with tastings, aperitifs, and communal outdoor gatherings.
Evenings at the property feature sunset aperitifs, cocktails at the Cabana Lounge Bar, and open‑air dining under pergolas, striking a balance between refined elegance and relaxed sociability.
Hermitage Hotel and Resort also places a strong focus on family‑friendly hospitality. The property offers dedicated green spaces and activity zones tailored for younger guests, kept separate from adult relaxation areas to guarantee privacy and tranquility for everyone.
Children’s programs encompass sports, creative workshops, and interactive activities like Lego Lab, Circus Lab, and treasure hunts, complemented by sunset rituals that include gelato, music, and family‑focused entertainment.
The resort’s overall design philosophy emphasizes freedom, authenticity, and slow travel, moving away from highly standardized luxury hospitality models.
Elisabetta Fabri, President and CEO, Starhotels said, “Hermitage escapes traditional definitions: it is not simply a seaside hotel, but a nature-filled retreat. It is our first resort, and we wanted it to be exactly this: a place where guests can enjoy the privilege of slowing down, defined by an elegance that does not need to announce itself. Its garden, its intimate atmosphere, and its authentic relationship with guests express a way of experiencing hospitality that feels deeply our own: the memory of Italian summer holidays as they once were. An experience where relationships and tranquility have room to flourish again. Hermitage does not set out to impress. And yet it does. Because it is rare. Because it is hidden. Because, once discovered, it is difficult to forget.”
