Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has unveiled Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt, marking the Taj brand’s debut on continental Europe and expanding IHCL’s regional presence.
Located in Frankfurt’s trade‑fair district, the hotel now operates the historic Hessischer Hof property under the Taj banner, combining the building’s established heritage with the brand’s hospitality offering.
The opening was introduced by Albert Mayr, General Manager of Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt; Spiridon Sarantopoulos, Senior Vice President of Operations Europe & USA, IHCL; and Gaurav Pokhariyal, Chief Operating Officer – Full‑Service Business, IHCL. The ceremony was attended by members of Frankfurt’s business, political, social and cultural communities.
Speaking at the event, Albert Mayr said, “We are celebrating the continuation of a story that is deeply connected to this city. With Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt, we are reopening a property that has long been an icon of the hospitality landscape while reimagining it for the future. Great hotels do not thrive on their past alone; they thrive on how their future is shaped.”
Spiridon Sarantopoulos of IHCL, which operates the hotel, added, “The combination of this hotel’s rich heritage and the international stature of the Taj brand provides a strong foundation for a successful future. We aim to offer our guests an authentic Taj experience while preserving the distinct character of the former Grandhotel Hessischer Hof.”
The opening also represents a significant step in IHCL’s international expansion strategy, providing Taj with a presence in one of Europe’s major business and financial centres.
Gaurav Pokhariyal said, “With Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt, we are marking an important milestone in IHCL’s growth journey. Frankfurt, as a major European hub for business and culture, is the ideal gateway for introducing the Taj brand to continental Europe. We are proud to bring Taj’s signature hospitality to guests in this market.”

Guests at the opening included State Secretary Karin Müller, former dressage rider Ann‑Kathrin Linsenhoff, Detlef Braun, CEO of Messe Frankfurt, and television presenters Nina and Julia Meise.
The hotel’s food and beverage offering includes Bombay Brasserie, its signature restaurant, and the reopened Jimmy’s Bar. Attendees sampled dishes from Bombay Brasserie alongside an oyster bar and caviar tasting experience.
Bombay Brasserie has also been recognised in Frankfurt und Rhein-Main geht aus 2027, debuting at No. 1 in the Indian Cuisine category. The restaurant is featured among the publication’s “Newcomers of the Year” in the Asian Fine Dining category, while Jimmy’s Bar is honoured in the Classic Bars category.
The opening of Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt strengthens IHCL’s European footprint while introducing the Taj brand to continental Europe through a property that combines its established Frankfurt identity with the group’s international hospitality offering.
