Marriott and CG Hospitality to bring Ritz-Carlton and Westin to Kathmandu

Marriott International and CG Hospitality Global have reached an agreement to introduce two new properties in Nepal’s capital: The Ritz-Carlton Kathmandu and The Westin Kathmandu. Expected to open by 2031, the developments will add roughly 300 rooms to Marriott’s Nepal portfolio and deepen the brand’s footprint in South Asia.
These projects will be executed together with Chaudhary Group, IEG Group, IJ Group and Sharma & Company, highlighting the ongoing partnership between Marriott International and CG Hospitality Global throughout the region.
The signing event featured David Marriott, Chairman of Marriott International’s Board; Binod Chaudhary, Managing Director and CEO of CG Corp Global; Rahul Chaudhary, CEO and Managing Director of CG Hospitality Global; Rajeev Menon, President of Marriott International for Asia Pacific (excluding China); and Kiran Andicot, Senior Vice President for South Asia at Marriott International, plus delegates from the partner firms.
The Ritz-Carlton Kathmandu will be the luxury brand’s first hotel in Nepal. Situated in Thamel, about five kilometres from Tribhuvan International Airport, it will offer 150 guest rooms, of which 30 are suites. Amenities will comprise five restaurants, an outdoor pool, a fitness centre, The Ritz‑Carlton Spa, and over 1,100 square metres of meeting and event space.
The Westin Kathmandu, positioned roughly seven kilometres from the airport, will also provide 150 rooms and suites. Built around Westin’s wellness ethos, the hotel will include three dining outlets, a WestinWorkout fitness studio, Heavenly Spa by Westin, a rooftop swimming pool, and more than 700 square metres of meeting and banquet facilities.
The initiatives will boost Nepal’s tourism appeal, create jobs, and support the nation’s wider economic development.
Both hotels are anticipated to raise Kathmandu’s profile as an emerging hub for luxury, business, and leisure travelers while reinforcing the growth of Nepal’s hospitality sector.
