Minor Hotels to open Avani Kota Kinabalu in Sabah in 2027

Minor Hotels revealed plans for Avani Kota Kinabalu, a premium lifestyle hotel with 352 rooms set to debut in the first quarter of 2027. Situated within The Logg Luyang mixed‑use project by KTI Landmark, this will be the first Avani property in Sabah and will broaden Minor Hotels’ footprint in Malaysia.

Just about a ten‑minute drive from Kota Kinabalu International Airport, the hotel will serve leisure and business guests alike, offering convenient links to the city’s commercial zones, residential areas and tourist sites.

This project aligns with Minor Hotels’ strategy to grow its lifestyle brand in markets seeing rising domestic, regional and international interest. Avani Kota Kinabalu will sit alongside Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas in Johor as part of the group’s Malaysian collection.

KTI Landmark is developing The Logg Luyang, which blends hospitality, retail and lifestyle elements in the Luyang district, with Avani Kota Kinabalu acting as the hospitality centerpiece.

“Kota Kinabalu is fast becoming a regional hub for business and tourism, driving demand for a versatile hotel that can serve corporate, leisure and social purposes,” commented Winston Gong, General Manager of Avani Kota Kinabalu.

“Our aim is to provide an efficient, locally‑focused guest experience while creating a property that genuinely resonates with Sabah’s residents,” he added.

Designed by Shah Architect, with landscape design by SD2 and interiors by INdulge, Avani Kota Kinabalu will offer 352 rooms suited for business trips, short getaways and extended stays.

The property will feature five food and beverage outlets. Its all‑day dining restaurant will showcase Sabahan, Malaysian, Korean and international dishes, enhanced by live cooking stations and local specialties.

A modern Chinese restaurant will highlight Sabah Hakka heritage and regional flavors, while the Lobby Lounge will serve as a daytime meeting area that transforms in the evening into a spot for afternoon tea, cocktails and whiskies.

The Pantry will offer artisan bakery goods, desserts and premium coffee. Up on the roof, SEEN Restaurant & Bar will introduce its rooftop dining and nightlife concept to Sabah, blending globally inspired cuisine, creative mixology, curated music and locally inspired experiences.

Avani Kota Kinabalu will also provide dedicated meeting and banquet spaces suitable for conferences, weddings and other social gatherings.

Leisure amenities will comprise an infinity pool and an AvaniFit fitness centre, with nearby Tun Fuad Stephens Park offering additional outdoor recreational options.

By integrating accommodation, dining, wellness and event spaces within a single development, Avani Kota Kinabalu will enhance Minor Hotels’ lifestyle portfolio in Malaysia, supporting the group’s ongoing expansion throughout Asia.
