Governor highlights Bihar’s development since 2005 as B

Patna, Feb 2: Bihar’s Legislative Assembly commenced its Budget Session on Monday with significant political engagement at the Assembly complex.

Before the session began, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar greeted Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar and Legislative Council Chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh, presenting them with bouquets.

The Chief Minister later welcomed Governor Arif Mohammad Khan upon his arrival, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha.

Members from both the ruling coalition and opposition parties actively attended the session’s opening day, with ministers and MLAs of the Nitish Kumar government in attendance.

Opposition Leader Tejashwi Yadav arrived in a wheelchair following toe surgery, sparking widespread attention on social media.

Governor Khan emphasized Bihar’s progress across education, healthcare, law enforcement, and infrastructure since Nitish Kumar took office in November 2005.

Noting enhanced public safety, he highlighted the expansion of police stations from 814 to 1,380. The Governor also praised the establishment of medical and engineering colleges in every district as transformative for higher education access.

On women’s empowerment, he cited reservation policies and other initiatives delivering measurable outcomes. Improved road connectivity was underscored, with travel to Patna now significantly easier from across Bihar.

During the Governor’s address, an opposition MLA interjected with, “When will NEET students receive justice?” prompting a brief pause before proceedings resumed.

Following the address, the state government prepared to table the Economic Survey, detailing Bihar’s economic performance ahead of the upcoming budget presentation.

The session’s inaugural day featured robust political participation from both ruling and opposition parties as legislative deliberations commenced.
