One 97 Communications Ltd, the parent company of Paytm, stated in a stock exchange filing that it currently receives incentive income under the Payments Infrastructure Development Fund (PIDF) scheme tied to investments in payment acceptance devices like Soundboxes and EDC machines.
The company explained that should the scheme discontinue after its current expiration date, it anticipates substantially mitigating the financial impact through increased revenue streams and more focused sales strategies.
The PIDF initiative, active through December 31, 2025, was designed to boost digital payments infrastructure in Tier-3 to Tier-6 regions, along with underserved areas including the Northeast and the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
During the first half of fiscal year ending September 30, 2025, Paytm reported ₹128 crore in incentive revenues from this program.
This disclosure follows Paytm’s consistent financial improvements driven by cost optimization measures, operational efficiency, and sequential profitability gains.
Analysts at Investec Equités recently highlighted Paytm’s market leadership in merchant acquisition, noting its dominance in offline payment solutions. The company holds over 50% market share in Soundbox devices and approximately 10% in physical POS terminals, complementing its 15-20% share in online payment gateways. This diversified presence positions Paytm to capitalize on expanding net payment margins.
Investec also emphasized that Paytm’s technological expertise and strong merchant partnerships provide enduring pricing advantages and create significant switching barriers for competitors.
Through this announcement, Paytm aims to reinforce investor confidence in its long-term growth trajectory despite regulatory uncertainties.
