Canara Bank raises ₹3,500 cr in AT1 bonds to strengthen capital base

1 min read

Canara Bank has launched an additional Tier-1 (AT1) bond offering worth ₹3,500 crore to reinforce its capital reserves and finance expansion initiatives.

The electronic auction for the issuance will take place on Friday, 28 November 2025 via the National Stock Exchange’s bidding platform.

The Basel III-compliant AT1 bond sale includes a base component of ₹1,000 crore, with an oversubscription option (green shoe) of ₹2,500 crore to accommodate heightened investor interest.

This issuance supports the bank’s ₹9,500 crore capital mobilization strategy for the current fiscal year, combining Tier-1 and Tier-2 instruments to enhance Basel III regulatory capital adequacy ratios.
