CSB Bank reports 6% increase in Q4FY26 net profit at ₹202 crore

Pralay Mondal, MD & CEO, CSB Bank

CSB Bank’s net profit for Q4 FY26 rose 6% year‑on‑year to ₹202 crore, up from ₹190 crore a year earlier, driven by strong growth in net interest income and a notable drop in loan‑loss provisions.

For FY26, the Thrissur‑based CSB Bank recorded a 7% increase in net profit, reaching ₹633 crore compared with ₹594 crore in FY25.

Net interest income – the gap between interest earned and interest paid – climbed 25% year‑on‑year to ₹464 crore in the quarter, up from ₹371 crore in the same period last year.

Other income, comprising fee‑based earnings, treasury gains and recoveries from written‑off loans, fell 20% year‑on‑year to ₹306 crore, down from ₹381 crore a year earlier.

Loan‑loss provisions dropped sharply by 78% year‑on‑year to ₹11 crore, compared with ₹49 crore in the prior‑year quarter.

At the end of March 2026, deposits were 20% higher year‑on‑year at ₹44,246 crore, while gross advances grew 27% to ₹40,359 crore.

Overall deposits

Within total deposits, the share of low‑cost CASA (current and savings accounts) slipped to 20% from 24% a year earlier.

In the loan book, gold loans’ share rose to 53% from 44%. Growth in advances was driven by gold loans, up 53%, and wholesale loans, up 37%. Business‑segment lending edged up 2.6%, while retail lending fell 28%.

Pralay Mondal, MD & CEO, said the fall in retail lending stemmed from re‑classifying gold‑backed loans and a drop in unsecured credit, among other factors.

“Looking ahead, the retail portfolio should expand,” he added. “Our wholesale loan book is accelerating thanks to the transaction‑banking platform, and we anticipate sustained growth in that segment.”

Gross NPAs rose to 1.66% of gross advances by end‑March 2026, up from 1.57% a year earlier, while net NPAs improved to 0.40% of net advances from 0.52%.

Mondal commented: “The higher GNPA level reflects slippages in the first three quarters, but by the close of Q4 most of those assets had been upgraded or recovered.”

Net interest margin edged up to 3.83% in Q4 FY26 from 3.75% in Q4 FY25.

CSB Bank’s stock climbed 2.73% to close at ₹391.95 on the BSE, up from the prior close of ₹381.55.
