Kotak Mahindra Bank (KMB) posted a 13% year‑on‑year rise in Q4 standalone net profit, reaching ₹4,027 crore, driven by solid net‑interest‑income growth and a steep drop in provisions.
The country’s fourth‑largest private‑sector bank recorded a net profit of ₹3,552 crore in the same quarter last year.
FY26 standalone net profit fell 15% year‑on‑year to ₹14,008 crore, down from ₹16,450 crore. Last year’s figure was lifted by the Bank’s sale of a 70% stake in Kotak General Insurance to Zurich Insurance for ₹4,096 crore, yielding a pre‑tax gain of ₹3,803 crore.
The Board has advised a dividend of ₹0.65 per equity share (face value ₹1) for FY26.
In the reporting quarter, net interest income (interest earned minus interest paid) rose 8% year‑on‑year to ₹7,876 crore, compared with ₹7,284 crore in Q4 FY25.
Other income, which covers non‑fund‑based items like guarantees‑related commissions, third‑party product sales, banking fees, foreign‑exchange earnings, investment‑sale/revaluation profits or losses, and dividend receipts from subsidiaries and associates, slipped 2% year‑on‑year to ₹3,116 crore from ₹3,182 crore.
Provisions, including those for non‑performing assets, dropped 43% year‑on‑year to ₹516 crore, down from ₹909 crore.
Asset quality continued to improve; gross NPAs slipped to 1.2% of advances at end‑March 2026 from 1.42% a year earlier, while net NPAs fell to 0.25% from 0.31%.
As of end‑March 2026, deposits grew 15% to ₹5,72,456 crore and net advances rose 16% to ₹4,96,009 crore.
MD & CEO Ashok Vaswani noted that the Bank is watching the secondary effects of geopolitical events and the El Niño pattern, adding that he sees no pressure stemming from the West Asia conflict.
The Bank plans to expand its unsecured loan book in a measured way, concentrating on current clients.
In the same quarter, KMB’s consolidated net profit reached ₹5,423 crore, up 10% year‑on‑year from ₹4,933 crore a year earlier.
