MobiKwik gets RBI nod for NBFC license
1 min readOn Monday, One MobiKwik Systems, an Indian fintech company, announced that its group obtained approval from the Reserve Bank of India for a non‑banking financial company (NBFC) licence.
The licence will enable MobiKwik to establish a lending subsidiary, Mobikwik Financial Services, thereby broadening its regulated credit portfolio.
Following the news, the company’s shares increased by 14%.
One MobiKwik Systems runs a digital wallet and has extended its services to the distribution of financial products such as credit and investments. The firm added that the NBFC licence will let it introduce lending products more quickly and boost margins by moving credit operations in‑house.
The new unit will provide both secured and unsecured loans to consumers and small businesses, targeting underserved markets.
The company noted that non‑bank lending activities will commence once it obtains a certificate of registration from the central bank after meeting the required conditions.
