- Rupee rose 163 paise to 94.93 against the dollar in four sessions.
- RBI intervention and reduced oil‑company dollar demand underpinned the move.
- Analysts see further upside if the pair stays above 94.80.
Overall, in the last four trading sessions, beginning last Friday (October 9) till Wednesday (October 14), the Rupee has gained 163 paise against the Dollar.
The rupee extended its rally, supported by the Reserve Bank of India’s actions to limit speculation and stabilize forex volatility.
On Thursday the rupee opened at 94.91 per dollar, 24 paise stronger than the prior close of 95.15, and was quoted at 94.9325.
Over the four‑session period from October 9 to October 14, the rupee appreciated by 163 paise versus the dollar.
Rupee Gains 163 Paise in Four Sessions
According to Amit Pabari, Managing Director of CR Forex Advisors, the rupee’s move is quiet yet firm, with USD‑INR extending its rally to a fourth straight session—the sharpest rise since the Hormuz crisis.
Even with higher US inflation and yields, the dollar faltered to hold gains, allowing the rupee to recover.
Outlook for Further Appreciation
A break below 94.80 could enable an additional 50‑75 paise appreciation, bolstered by lower direct dollar demand from oil producers, Pabari noted.
