Tata AIA launches two cancer insurance plans with income replacement option
2 min readTata AIA Life Insurance introduced two new plans, Sampoorna Care – Cancer and Sampoorna Care – Cancer Fund, designed to mitigate income loss and savings interruption resulting from a cancer diagnosis.
The Sampoorna Care – Cancer plan provides coverage up to ₹50 lakh, letting policyholders select a full lump‑sum payment, a steady monthly income, or a mix of an initial payout plus a monthly income for as long as five years. It includes a 30‑year premium rate guarantee, a Diagnostic Benefit that pays for early‑stage screening expenses, and an Overseas Treatment Booster that adds 10 % of the sum assured for treatment abroad within a defined window after diagnosis.
Sampoorna Care – Cancer Fund incorporates a Health Fund feature that lets policyholders save an amount equal to 1 to 3 times their cancer protection premium, with tax‑free withdrawals for medical costs. The plan also provides Accidental Total and Permanent Disability coverage and offers a premium‑return option if no cancer is diagnosed during the term.
According to the insurer, the launch was based on consumer research indicating that 48 % of respondents favored income‑style payouts over a lump sum, while 47 % specifically preferred a monthly income. Moreover, 76 % wanted the income stream to last several years, with 42 % opting for a two‑year payout period and 34 % choosing a five‑year period.
Sujeet Kothare, Chief Business Officer – Proprietary Business, Propositions & Marketing at Tata AIA, explained that the two plans were created to jointly address income replacement, savings continuity, and treatment support.
Sampoorna Care – Cancer Fund is made up of Tata AIA Health SIP and Tata AIA Health Buddy, whereas Sampoorna Care – Cancer is a version of the existing Tata AIA Sampoorna Care offering.
Tata AIA announced total premium income of ₹38,164 crore for FY 26, a 21 % increase over FY 25, placing it among the top three private insurers in Individual Weighted New Business Premium, which stood at ₹10,018 crore.
