Vanguard’s assessment places its stake in Ola at roughly $728,000. The fund originally put about $51.7 million into Ola back in 2015, when the ride‑hailing firm was valued near $5 billion. Compared with that initial investment, the current implied valuation for Ola represents a drop of almost 99 %.
This latest reduction follows a series of downward adjustments by Vanguard, which had previously marked Ola’s value at $1.88 billion in early 2024 and then at $1.25 billion in May 2025.
During its peak funding round in 2021, Ola reached a valuation of $7.3 billion. Vanguard’s most recent figure suggests the company’s worth is now more than 99 % below that high point.
It should be noted that the valuations mutual funds and asset managers assign to private holdings are internal estimates and may not reflect the true market price. These numbers can be shaped by the fund’s methodology, liquidity considerations, prevailing market conditions, and other assumptions.
Ola has not issued any comment on this development.
The valuation cut comes as Ola gears up for a planned IPO. In FY25 the company’s operating revenue fell 42 % to ₹1,171 crore, down from ₹2,012 crore the prior year, while its net loss widened to ₹662 crore from ₹329 crore. Ola continues to contend with strong competition from rivals such as Uber and Rapido in the ride‑hailing sector. Notably, Rapido recently announced a self‑valuation of $3 billion after securing a $240 million funding round.
