Zurich’s Grand Metropolitan Hotels (GMH) has finalized its acquisition of Signature Hotels, signaling a major expansion in the company’s global strategy. This development enhances GMH’s footprint across the UK, Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, and India while creating new opportunities in vital international markets.
Signature Hotels brings four established boutique and upper-midscale London properties into GMH’s portfolio: Signature Townhouse Hyde Park, Park Avenue Baker Street, Park Avenue Bayswater Inn Hyde Park, and Queens Park Premier London Hyde Park. Two forthcoming properties in India are currently in development, with openings expected within the year.
GMH will integrate Signature’s operational teams and retain the brand as a boutique lifestyle offering within its portfolio to maintain continuity during the transition.
Martin R. Smura, GMH Founder and Chairman, stated: “Signature Hotels delivers both local expertise in competitive markets and international growth potential. Their London foothold and development pipeline support our strategic expansion goals.”
Signature leadership added: “This merger unites family-owned businesses with shared values in hospitality excellence. Through GMH, we gain global capabilities while preserving our commitment to authentic guest experiences.”
