St. Regis debuts in Hungary with opening of The St. Regis Budapest at historic Klotild Palace

St. Regis Hotels and Resorts announces its launch in Hungary with the debut of The St. Regis Budapest, situated inside the historic Klotild Palace. The opening brings the brand’s hallmark rituals, personalized service and elegant luxury to the capital, establishing the hotel as a notable addition to Hungary’s upscale hospitality sector.

Set near the Danube and major sights, the hotel resides in a meticulously restored Belle Époque landmark that echoes Budapest’s architectural and cultural heritage. Originally commissioned by Her Imperial and Royal Highness Princess Klotild of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and designed by architects Flóris Korb and Kálmán Giergl, the Neo‑Baroque palace was intended as a ceremonial entrance to Pest. Recognized for its 48‑metre tower and elaborate ornamentation, the building holds protected status as a UNESCO‑listed architectural monument.

The hotel offers 63 guest rooms and 39 suites, among them the Klotild Tower Suite and a two‑bedroom Presidential Suite covering 169 square metres, providing vistas of the Danube, Elizabeth Bridge and Citadella. Interior design nods to Budapest’s artistic legacy and its historic ties to opera, incorporating Art Nouveau touches, Hungarian tilework and polished brass accents. Every accommodation features the brand’s signature St. Regis Butler Service.

Common areas and interiors draw inspiration from the flow of the Danube and the city’s renowned thermal‑bath tradition, using flowing motifs, muted colours, ceramic details and decorative patterns. A focal point is the grand staircase, conceived as a “vertical river of light,” adorned with sculptural elements and a glass ceiling highlighted by chandeliers shaped like crowns.

Food and beverage venues comprise The St. Regis Bar, whose theatrical styling references the Hungarian State Opera House, and a curated cocktail program overseen by Head Mixologist Norbert Tengely. The signature drink, “The Crown Mary,” honors both the palace’s royal lineage and the heritage of The St. Regis New York.

The culinary lineup further includes 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant, delivering modern Japanese fare, and Klotild Patisserie, which fuses Hungarian pastry craft with French‑Viennoiserie techniques. Guests can partake in signature brand experiences such as Afternoon Tea and Champagne Sabrage in the atrium.

Wellness amenities consist of The St. Regis Spa, offering an indoor pool, hammam, Finnish sauna and treatment rooms, stocked with Sothys products and Hungarian skincare line Omorovicza. A contemporary fitness studio is situated on the sixth floor.
